Second Report Of Gun Shots Today

[Updated] Following the shooting of a 24-year-old man this morning [Aug 6], there has been another report of gunshots. Police have not confirmed whether a gun was actually fired or not, and it is believed that no one is injured.

A police spokesman confirmed with us that the reports came in at approximately 10:40pm, with the incident reported to have occurred in the Middle Terrace, Friswells Hill, Pembroke area. As of 11:15pm, there appeared to be no Police officers on the scene, or at least to our view.

Update Aug 7 – 12:51pm: A Police spokesman says that officers attended and spoke with area residents, and that at that time nothing was found to substantiate the reports, however the investigation is ongoing.

Update Aug 7 – 4:34pm: Police release an official statement:

Around 10:40pm on Friday, Police responded to a reported firearm incident in the Middle Terrace, Pembroke area. Officers attended the scene and spoke with area residents; however at that time nothing was found to substantiate the report. Inquiries at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital revealed that no one has been admitted with gunshot wounds. Inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
