iPads On Offer For Top Student Debaters
Students who are talented in debating can attend a casting call, with the top six debaters receiving a free Apple ipad, and the chance to debate at the opening of the Health Financing Summit.
The Health Insurance Department is seeking Bermuda’s top student debaters to participate in a Health Financing Summit in November. High school students are invited to attend a casting call on Saturday 18 September 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
The Casting call will be followed by debate coaching with Mr. Gladstone Thompson of Dynamic Debaters & Learners and a competition to select six finalists. The finalists will debate at the opening of the Health Financing Summit and they will receive an Apple iPad, along with tickets to the event’s Banquet.
Government says the objectives of the Health Financing Summit 2010 are three-fold:
- 1. To engage industry stakeholders in discussion about rising healthcare costs and possible solutions;
- 2. To inform the public of the drivers of healthcare increases and how they can help change this, and
- 3. To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Social Health Insurance in Bermuda.
Government says that “As a dynamic part of the Summit, the Health Financing Debate aims to engage the public in discussion on the various healthcare financing issues facing Bermuda today, as well as to educate Bermuda’s youth.”
For more information on the Casting Call, interested students may call Mr. Gladstone Thompson on 297-1054.
