Photos: Ziggy Marley & Bermuda Music Festival
The 15th Annual Bermuda Music Festival opened last night [Sept 30] with multi Grammy award-winner Ziggy Marley. The 41-year-old singer, the oldest son of the legendary Bob Marley, is one of four headline acts brought in from overseas. The concert was held outdoors at the Fairmont Southampton hotel, with local performers including Uzimon and Homegrown warming up the crowd, alongside Power 95′s DJ Radigun and PowerGirl.
The weather looked threatening before the concert but cleared to allow a great performance by all entertainers. A short intermission was held after the local acts before Ziggy came on and performed for just under two hours.
The concert ended just before midnight. Parking was available at Horseshoe Bay Parking lot, and the Fairmont Southampton Princess shuttle was busy moving patrons to and from the hotel. In addition to various locals attending, we spoke with visitors that flew in from Canada and New York.
On Friday evening, Angie Stone and Estelle will take the stage, and the festival will conclude on Saturday evening with a performance by five-time Grammy award-winning artist Toni Braxton. Tickets for each night were $95 for general admission, and $140 for reserved seating.
