Premier Attends 2010 Fashion Collective Show
The Bermuda Fashion Collective Show was held on November 4th at City Hall, and featured fashions by local designers Ashley Aitken, Dana Cooper, Dean Williams, Shay Ford, Talibah, Amethyst, and Torri Simons.
Shay Ford, 28, didn’t take up fashion in school but stayed in the creative field, and has a style which “leans towards a mixture of Vintage with a modern twist.” Torri Simons, also known for her many appearances in front of the camera as a model, says “My designs are all unique and all one of a kind!” Dean Williams underwent professional training at The Fashion Institute of Technology and Traphagen School of Fashion, and has his own line ‘Definitions by Deane.’
Dana Cooper’s ‘Bay Grape print’ was transformed into a dress, which launched in 40 U.S stores in April 2010 as well as small boutiques in the Caribbean and A.S.Coopers Bermuda. Ashley Aitken completed a Fashion Design Certificate course at the Instituto Di Moda Burgo in Milan, and launched her collection ‘Elletee Mumbai’ after being inspired by a trip to India.
Premier Paula Cox, along with her husband Germain Nkeuleu, attended the event, and is said to have enjoyed the fashion show featuring the works of Bermudian designers.
The Premier is known to favour some of the designs of well known local designer Amethyst, shown standing 3rd from the left, just behind the Premier.
