Bermuda Promoted at Swiss Conference

December 9, 2010

Representatives of Bermuda and Business Bermuda attended the Risk Minds 2010 conference at the President Wilson Hotel in Geneva, Switzerland from 7th December to 9th December 2010.

The Risk Minds conference is the largest and longest running risk management conference in the industry and this year attracted more than 600 delegates from around the world. Business Bermuda was also sponsoring the event for the second consecutive year.

The conference is designed to provide insight and perspective on current risk management issues and reaches industry thought leaders, leading academics and senior risk practitioners.

Representing Bermuda at the conference were Susan Stirling, Director of Marketing for Business Bermuda and Christophe Rilinger, Managing Director, Apex Fund Services.

Susan Stirling delivered the welcome address at the opening cocktail party on behalf of Bermuda. Underscoring the regulatory strengths of Bermuda, she addressed the opportunities that exist in Bermuda, saying we have a strong regulatory environment, supportive business community and government.

Commenting on the conference she went on to say: “This is a prestigious event with the agenda focusing on all the important issues affecting risk analysis. It is testament to Bermuda’s brand and product offering that it is at the centre at such a prestigious conference.

“Attendees are very enthusiastic to meet and talk about many of Bermuda’s key attributes. There is considerable discussion on those jurisdictions that have ‘disappeared’ from the marketing circuit. In the context of Bermuda’s status and approach including Premier Paula Cox’s position as Vice Chair of the OECD Global Forum, the 24 signed Tax Information Exchange Agreements Bermuda has concluded to date as well as Bermuda’s white list designation, the attendees found Bermuda to be impressive and recognized the importance of its position.”
