Teen Injured: Bus & Motorcycle Collide
[Updated with video] At approximately 7:45am this morning [Dec 1] an accident occurred on St David’s main road [just east of Chapel of Ease] which saw a motorcycle and a bus collide. Traffic was held up for a brief time while the Police and emergency personnel attended to the 16-year-old motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was attended to by emergency personnel on the scene prior to be transported away via ambulance for further medical care. The motorcyclist appeared to be in his teens, and a member of his family traveled with him in the ambulance.
It appeared that the bus was transporting high school students, who got off the bus and crossed over to Southside Rd to catch another bus due to the delay. As of this writing, the road was still closed as Police continue their investigation. We will update with official information from the Police, which we expect to receive later today.
Update 4:07pm: Official information from the Police “Around 7:30am on Wednesday, Police and first responders received a report of a serious road traffic collision resulting in injury on St. David’s Road in St. George’s involving a bus and an auxiliary cycle. On arrival it appeared that both vehicles were traveling along St. David’s Road when they collided. The rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 16 year old young man from St. George’s, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. At last check he was in stable condition at the hospital. Inquiries into this incident are underway. “
