Devrae Noel-Simmons: “Let’s Vote for Change”
The United Bermuda Party candidate in the upcoming Warwick South Parliamentary by-election says he doesn’t just talk about change, he is living it.
In a new video Devrae Noel-Simmons appeals to voters in Constituency 26 to embrace his candidacy. “I would like for you to come out … and look to me to represent you,” he says. “Lets vote for change. Let’s make a difference. And let’s get it done. Cause I’m not a man just to talk about it. I’m walking it, I’m living it, I’m out here with you. Lets get it done together.”
The by-election, prompted by the resignation of former Premier Dr Ewart Brown who held the Warwick Parliamentary seat since 1993, is being held on December 15. Former Government Senator Marc Bean is the Progressive Labour Party candidate while Sylvan Richards is representing the Bermuda Democratic Alliance in the party’s first time sending a candidate to the polls.
In a declaration of principles posted at his campaign website, Mr. Noel-Simmons said: “Like many people, I had lots of ideas and opinions, but never had an interest in actively serving in politics. I was more interested at the time of experiencing life in different countries and cultures. However this attitude was dramatically reversed when I was first introduced to politics in 1999 by a young , energetic and inspirational Bermudian by the name of Keith Young, (the United Bermuda Party candidate for constituency 16, Pembroke East Central), whose sheer commitment to his community inspired me to look closer at my own sense of worth as a Bermudian, and what I could do to help my fellow citizens.”
When their candidacies were announced both Mr. Noel-Simmons and the BDA’s Mr. Richards produced certificates demonstrating they were drug-free. Mr. Noel-Simmons, who has a 2008 cocaine conviction, admitted he was “not without guilt” and had endeavoured to turn his life around. The PLP’s Mr. Bean has not addressed the issue directly, however a party spokesman cited the “desire a solutions-oriented team approach to government, not political theatrics.”
Demagogues: Cue the mudslinging…
The only mudslinging is the use of the word “Demagogues”.
Best of luck Devrae.
Gibberish. As usual.
Gibberish? Stick to the subject. Your words speak volumes but as usual to derail things. Get a life and say hello to LaVerne. You know, the one you called all those names.
Sad.
Best of luck Devrae
Take a seat UBP, stop standing in the shadows of the spotlight and get off the stage.
Devrae is a breath of fresh air. We are looking for him to do great things for the folks in 26 but the entire country. You are the best person for the seat! Upfront, dedicated and a family man!
So when did Mr. T get into Bermuda politics?
