Local Equestrians 8th & 13th in Guatemala
Bermudian equestrians Claire Howard [pictured] and Melinda DeCosta competed in the First Round in the FEI World Jumping Challenge Final at Club Ecuestre El Cortijo in Guatemala City.
Ms Howard finished 8th and Ms Decosta finished 13th. Ms Howard riding Don Senor completed the first round course in a time of 79.27 with 4 faults, while Ms DeCosta riding Artemisa was clocked in at 109.87 with 16 faults.
The pair originally qualified for the event due to their results from the 2009 FEI World Jumping Challenge in Bermuda, where they finished first and second, earning a spot in the final competition.
The event has attracted a field of 22 riders from 15 countries including Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, South Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia and Guatemala.
