Ride the Wave CD Raises $40,000 for Charity

December 13, 2010

$40,000 was donated to the Coalition for the Protection of Children (CPC), which will go directly toward the CPC’s “Breakfast for Every Child” programme.

The monies raised derived from Ride the Wave Vol. I, a charitable CD comprised of 20 local artists, including world renowned Collie Buddz, Heather Nova and Troy Anthony, to name a few. The CD was released in June and sold for $20 each at 40 locations across the island. The entire project was sponsored by Freisenbruch-Meyer Group under the direction of President, Michael Freisenbruch and music veteran, Tony Brannon. Over 2,000 albums were produced, with only a few remaining in stock.

Mr. Freisenbruch said, “I am sincerely grateful for the hard work of my team, shop keepers and supporters in the community who have all played an instrumental role in the success of this project. We are pleased to present this generous donation to such a worthy cause. I especially want to say thank you to Andrew McKay from Gorham’s, who sold 700 CDs alone and hosted the Album Release Party with us back in June. G.E.T. Securities, Alterra, and Brown & Co deserve a special mention for their hard work as well, but everyone did their part.”

Tony Brannon, a contributing artist himself, said, “When we first put the word out to the musical community about the compilation, we were stunned at the amount of great local music that had been recorded. In fact the issue became ‘which artists do we include’. I think the caliber of artists and diverse songs has contributed a great deal to the success of this CD, along with all the shop keepers and supporters. I am excited to assist in donating this well deserved check to the Coalition.”
