Military Planes Depart Bermuda
Bermudians stopped and watched this morning [Feb 14], as a number of visiting military planes took off from LF Wade International Airport. There appeared to be two larger aircraft carrying the markings of the Royal Air Force, and six smaller fighter jets, all of which stopped over this weekend for an approximately 36 hour layover.
Loud, vibrating roars could be heard as each jet took off in succession, one after the other this morning. They are pictured here right after their arrival on the island Saturday night.
The British are comming….the British are comming………
these guys put on a good show doing flybys and formations whenever they visit
Chatted briefly with on of the pilots early this morning at Ham. Princess. A Chummy mate! RAF pilot for 8 years.
I didn’t even know they were here until I had to drop my daughter off at the airport. Needless to say, I went round to Ferry Reach to see what was going on, and I waited. My patience was richly rewarded.Saw them take off…now THAT’S what I call jet noise!!!!! The two larger aircraft were VC-10s…one is still here. I WANT to say that the fighters were Tornadoes, but would appreciate an expert’s input.
(And me without my damn camera!!)
We need an air show.
Tornado GR4′s
Thank you!!
Air show? Buzz cut Alabaimins spewing coloured smoke from their wizz jets to the strains of “Rock you like a hurricane”? What kind of country-fried rube is still impressed by that?!
That would be me…but no buzz-cut…
Oh no I missed this. Gosh I love watching them…..
Video! Video!……..bernews?
Returning in about 8 weeks
Hey BerNews! There are dozens of pilots and aircraft buffs on the island that can give you aircraft model names/specs for future news articles.
To add to your great news reporting, you can always contact one of them first.
My friend and pilot Pete Wilson
who was working at Southside when I last talked to him, would be one of the first contacts you can use.
Keep up the great news reporting.
