Patrick Nisbett Wins Grand Prix in Spain
[Updated] Bermudian equestrian Patrick Nisbett won a Grand Prix Class during the Sunshine Tour in Spain today [Mar.27], marking what the President of the Bermuda Equestrian Federation called the “best result ever by a Bermuda rider in equestrian show jumping.”
Michael Cherry, President Bermuda Equestrian Federation said, “The best result ever by a Bermuda rider in equestrian show jumping was seen on Sunday in Spain when Patrick Nisbett on his grey gelding Cantaro 32 won a Grand Prix class at a height of 1metre 60 cm when he had two clear rounds and came first in the jump off beating the second and third place finishers by more than two seconds.”
“In a class of 45 starters, amongst whom were some of the top European riders many of whom compete for their respective countries on a regular basis, there were thirteen clear rounds in the first round all of whom went through to the jump off.”
“Of those five got eight faults, four got four faults, one got three faults and of the three who went clear Patrick and Cantaro had the fastest time.”
“The event was actually streamed live over the internet and some enthusiasts in Bermuda were able to follow the exciting action.”
“Patrick represented Bermuda in the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky last October and has recently also achieved the capability standard to enable him to represent Bermuda at the Pan American Games to be held in Mexico next October.”

Mr Nisbett beat riders from countries including Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Germany, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.

Could you ride your horse in the Bermuda Day Parade for us? Oh, right, you would have to be on an artificial horse on a float! That would be just as good and safer for all.
