Live Video Stream: Police Town Hall Meeting

Watch below as the Bermuda Police Service hosts a Town Hall Meeting this evening [Apr.12] at the Port Royal Primary School in Southampton.

Hosted by Western Commanding Officer, Acting Chief Inspector Mark Clarke and members of the Western Division, officers will be addressing the western community specifically on what they have accomplished during the past six months, the vision for the next six months, objectives of the Western Community Action Team and more. The meeting will also be an open discussion on concerns raised by the public.

Update: Dale Butler, an MP in the Warwick area, spoke from the audience and suggested the Police not reveal information, such as where cameras are located.

Update #2: In addition to Mr Butler, those present include Attorney General and Justice Minister Michael Scott, UBP MP Pat Gordon Pamplin, PLP MP Dennis Lister, and PLP Senator Jonathan Smith.

Update #3: The Police said that the witness protection program and witness care unit came about after discussions between the Police, general public and legislators. They said it has resulted in effective evidence gathering and convictions.

Update #4: The Police said they cannot give specific numbers about how many gangs/gang members there are, but said they are actively working with the younger age group to work to prevent them from joining gangs.

Update #5: An member of the audience told a story about a bus stop in the area that was covered with graffitti, which was covered up after a lady and her 10yr old grandson painted the bus stop together.
