Photos: 2011 Miss Bermuda Swimsuit Shoot
This morning [Apr.3] Elbow Beach Hotel, a sponsor of the Miss Bermuda Pageant, played host to the contestants as they took part in a swimsuit photo session with well known local photographer Anthony Francis of Tekoa Photography. The make-up was by Chrysalis, with hair styling done by Impressions.
The contestants arrived at approximately 6:30 this morning to prepare, and the shoot lasted until the afternoon. Despite weather conditions that were far from ideal, the day went extremely well, and the bikini clad ladies attracted quite a bit of attention from onlookers at the hotel.
There are 16 competitors on total vying for the chance to be crowned Miss Bermuda 2011; Cratonia Smith, Kylah Burch, Deonae Dickinson, Dawnita Smith, Selita Crockwell, Davika Hill, Kalvilicia Joell, Davina Cannonier, Sharmaine Landy, Renee Tucker, Jasmine Simmons, Rachel Sawden, Alisha Phillips, Channing Dill, Cheyenne Darrell, and Jana Lynn Outerbridge.
The Miss Bermuda Pageant will take place on June 12th at the Fairmont Southampton, and tickets, which range from $65 to $125, are available here on Bdatix.bm. [Update: We also filmed five videos with the contestants, they can be viewed here.]

Poor oppressed women thinking that their beauty is in their physical attractiveness. When will the day come when women are valued for their intellect and spirituality? All I see is sexploitation here. Beauty contest? Looks more like a marketplace product display……..in the meat section!
The pageant I remember from a while back showcased intellect; they had to give speech, and answer abstract questions.
plus There is nothing wrong with being comfortable with your body.

at women in short business attire. Grow a pair!
Serioulsy….. get a life. This is only a small part of the pageant. They have to be intelligent, well spoken, versed in current events. Its not a swimsuit competition. Miss USA, Miss World…. any of these ring a bell? No??? Been under a rock the last 150 years? Ahh ok.

Funny how ppl complain about Beauty Shows being a meat market and yet now one ever seems to complain about body building shows.
All they do is show their flash. No questions. No speaking. Just showing their bodies. Male and female.
So whats the problem.
If some one is pretty and wants to see if she is the pretties, who cares.

Those who don’t. Do not watch and stop fussing. Go for a run and stop raining one the parade. There are enough things in this country to fuss about. gov, shooting and money. Go find that article.
Good Photos Bernews. As a photographer, I enjoyed seeing the angles you took to include the photographer and his assistant. You showed well that this part of the process included them all working together.
Wow that was an excellent point ….No one ever complains about the body building shows… and those shows are based entirely on physical appearance.
Yeah, but the photographers don’t have to be in the pictures. The story tells you who took the photos.
To explain, our story and gallery is on the photoshoot itself, that is we were invited and went for. We greatly appreciate the Miss Bermuda organizers and photographer allowing us to sit in on the photoshoot and permitting us to post this ‘behind the scenes’ preview. Not all would allow that….
Mr Francis images will feature just the models themselves in a variety of poses, and from what we saw today – should be top notch.
When i heard the ladies speak the other day, i swear only about 3 of them could present themselves well trough intellect. the rest were just full of “ums and unos” if 1 of these young ladies win who canot speak well then they donot stand a snowballs chance in “hell” of making Bermuda look good on the international stage.
Really don’t care about the hater’s comments, Ladies you look damn fine to me keep doing whata doing. They need to come up with a smilly face with a tounge hanging out and big eyes.

I heard someone say the other day that they’ve seen better looking front runners at horse races than the competition that is in this pagent, and the sad thing is I have to agree. I believe in equal opportunities but did they really have to include potential MAWI candidates? Maybe there were a lack of applications so they had to accept all that came along. There are only about 3 women in the competition that I believe are of a standard to be Miss Bermuda.
I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but maybe these photo’s account for the lack of tourists…….
