Mayor Honors Spelling Bee Champion

This past Saturday [Apr.30] St. George’s Mayor Kenneth Bascome honored 2011 Spelldown Champion Nasir Simmons in a special ceremony on the Town Square. The 10-year-old St. George’s Prep student won the islandwide contest on April 23, a competition he described as “really stiff.”

In front of a crowd consisting of tourists, locals and the Bermuda Long Riders Association the Mayor presented Nasir with a Certificate of Recognition for his victory at the 2011 Spelldown.
