Police & Department of Corrections Sign MOU

Today [May 12] the Bermuda Police Service and the Bermuda Department of Corrections signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This document simply updates an already established agreement between the two services.

In a low key affair, Acting Commissioner Michael Jackman and Commissioner of Corrections Edward Lamb signed the agreement which will take effect today May 12, 2011.

Commissioner of Corrections Edward Lamb said, “Both services presently enjoy a very good working relationship. This will only help further streamline processes to benefit all of those involved.”

Acting Commissioner Michael Jackman concurred, stating, “This is a mutually beneficial agreement which will help both organizations run and operate more efficiently.”

A spokesperson said, “This memorandum ensures the sharing of ideas including risk assessment, information sharing within jails, detainees in potential mass arrests and joint use of cells and facilities at the new Hamilton Police Station.”

“This Memorandum of Understanding works through mutual support and respect, making policies and procedures more efficient for everyone involved.”
