On Friday afternoon [May 13] the 35-year-old Greek crew member was working on board the ‘Samjohn Light’ when he fell of scaffolding and sustained injuries.

The ship’s officers made contact with Bermuda Harbour Radio at approximately 2:30pm, and notified them of the injured crew member and diverted to Bermuda.

The pilot boat went out this evening and met with the ship approximately 3.1 nautical miles off St. David’s lighthouse, transferring the crew member and bringing him ashore, where an awaiting ambulance transported him to King Edward Memorial Hospital.

The vessel Samjohn Light is a 38,077 gross ton bulk carrier and was on its way from Montoir, France to New Orleans, USA. It has continued on its voyage after disembarking the injured crew member.
