Consumers paid 2.4% more in April 2011 than they did a year ago for the basket of goods and services, according to statistics released today [June 9]. The annual rate of inflation slipped 0.1% from the 2.5% measured in March 2011.

Between March 2011 and April 2011, the average cost of goods and services in the Consumer Price Index rose 1.3%. The all-items index increased from 115.2 to 116.6 index points in April. This means that the basket of goods and services that cost $100.00 in April 2006 now cost $116.60.
