June 7, 2011

With a game that featured a celebrity team of 26 players and enjoyed by many, the Celebrity team made history and defeated the U11 National Academy team for the first time. The U11s scored 91 and the Celebrities finished with a comfortable 123.

Jadae Wade earned ‘Play of the Game’ honours, while the Celebrity of the Match was David Roache, Hiscox employee and better known as the Reggae singer Roachekiller. He was the top scorer with 20 runs, 2 wickets, and picked up this award for a second year in a row.

The ‘celebrity’ team included Minister Glenn Blakeney, Attorney General Michael Scott, Minister Kim Wilson, Minister Zane DeSilva, Assistant Police Commissioner Michael Jackman, Bruce Barritt, Power Girl, Gavin Djata Smith and more.

Hiscox CEO Charles Dupplin said, “It was a great family day, with perfect weather and a good spirited match with great moments of skill on both sides. It seems the Cabinet could field its own team!”

Mr. Reginald Pearman, President of the BCB said, “The BCB would like to thank all the celebrities and the many volunteers and staff who took part in organising what proved to be a great family day of youth cricket. I am particularly pleased to announce that the raffle surpassed last year’s total and we raised over $1200 for the Sunshine League.”

“In addition, Hiscox have agreed to double the money raised for the deserving charity! This event could not have happened without the support of Hiscox Insurance Company (Bermuda) who continue to support the 11&U League, our most popular leagues. The BCB is extremely proud of the young players who competed and showcased their talent to all who attended.”
