Rugby U19s Championship Team Announced
Bermuda have named ten of last year’s championship winning team in their starting line-up for tonight’s [July 11] match against Barbados, as they begin their defense of the NACRA U19s Trophy.
Try scoring hero of last year’s final, Patrick Richardson, is left on the bench as Antonio Perinchief-Leader and Chris Godfrey are preferred on the wings.
Nick Chilvers captains the side alongside Nygarryan Darrell and Dylan O’Kelley-Lynch forming a powerful and mobile backrow that will certainly win more than their fair share of ball against a Barbados team that allowed Cayman to reverse a 14 – 0 deficit to win 28 – 19 on Saturday night.
Head Coach, James Adderley, was confident ahead of the match saying, “I believe this team has the assets to play a more expansive game than that which won us the Championship last year.”
“There is an extra feeling of urgency this year, as we are both reigning Champions and also wish to equal the success of the senior national team, who won the Caribbean Championship final against Guyana last month.”
Bermuda will play Cayman in their final pool match on Wednesday, before meeting either Trinidad & Tobago, Mexico or Jamaica on Saturday’s finals day.
