Mr Smith recorded the same leap of 8.06m which won him Gold in Puerto Rico, however this time it netted him a third place finish.

Yahya Berrabah from Morocco finished first with a leap of 8.18m, while Greg Rutherford from Great Britain leaped 8.09m, Mr Smith’s leap of 8.06m saw him hold off Povilas Mykolaitis from Lithuania who jumped 8.05m and Robert Crowther from Australia finished fifth with a leap of 8.02m.

This Bronze medal win is the latest in a series of outstanding performances from Mr Smith. In addition to the Gold medal win at the CAC Games, the past few weeks has seen him win the men’s long jump at the IAAF World Challenge in Japan, finish third at the IAAF World Challenge in Senegal, win the long jump at the Leichtathletik Track Meet in Germany, and qualify for the 2012 Olympics with a leap of 8.16m.
