Tyrone Smith Wins Gold At CAC

Tyrone Smith won the Gold Medal in the Men’s Long Jump with a leap of 8.06m in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Senior Track and Field Championships, in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.

Smith who had a winning Leap of 8.06m said, “I was really feeling good, I felt it was my time to win another CAC Long Jump Championship.”

Lamont Marshall finished 6th overall in the 5000m. Unfortunately the race was run during a thunder, lightning and rain storm but Marshall still ran well in a time of 14.53 as his first CAC Senior event.

Earlier in the Championship, Darico Clarke finished 6th in Heat 1 of the Men’s 800m with a time of 1:58.69 and did not make it to the Semi-Finals.

In the Women’s 100 Meter Hurdles Heptathlon event, Shianne Smith finished 7th with a time of 14.75 while Andrea Jackson recorded a time of 15.33.

With a leap of 1.59m Smith finished third in the Women’s High Jump Heptathlon event while Jackson finished 5th with a leap of 1.56m. Jackson finished 3rd in the Women’s Shot Put Heptathlon event when she had a throw of 11.98m while Smith finished 7th throwing 10.61m.
