Netflix Now Available In Bermuda
Netflix, the world’s largest Internet movie and TV series subscription service, is opening up their services to citizens around the world, including Bermuda.
Netflix has launched in 43 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with Bermuda residents able to access the service as of today [Sept.12].
The cost is listed at $7.99 per month, however locals can get a free, one-month trial by going to netflix.com. We signed up to double-check access was available in Bermuda, and within minutes were able to browse their library and begin watching movies, although many appear to be in Spanish.
“We are excited to be bringing Netflix to Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Reed Hastings, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Netflix.
“People throughout the region are online in ever-greater numbers and they love movies and TV shows. We are proud to bring them the Netflix experience of instantly enjoying as many movies and TV shows as they want, when they want for one low price.”
“It is an amazing privilege for us to travel through the region, introducing Netflix to consumers in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Mr Hastings. “We are committed to offering the same great service, value and choice throughout the Americas and we can’t wait to get started.”
The company was established in the late 1990s, and by 2009 it was offering a collection of 100,000 titles on DVD, surpassing 10 million subscribers. On February 25, 2007, Netflix announced the billionth DVD delivery, and in April 2011, Netflix said they had over 20 million subscribers.

Will there be a limit on the amount of movies for $7+ dollars a month? I believe there are limitations especially via the airways and not by mail.
NOT IN THE US ITS NO LIMIT. U WATCH ALL THAT YOU WANT FOR THAT PRICE.
Netflix has been in Bermuda since early this year. Its availible at Another Level Audio on Union St.
How do you get in touch with Another Level Audio, dont see a # for them
Bawwwhaw haw haw! The death blow has been delivered! ‘Give us us Free’ (Djamon Hansou)voice. Seriously the writing is on the wall for cable vision and others. The more tech savvy people get they too will realize.
-Cable Tv free since 2007
-DVD Free since 2009
-nuff said
VPN address $55 per year – watch TV, films etc in over 100 countries. Couldn’t agree more outkasted!
Netflix is nothing new to us. We’ve had it since early this year. The latin american content isn’t much at all. We use 4 City Special VPN connection to get everything the US has.
If any is interested in getting that setup contact successtips2010@hotmail.com.
Please note that the Latin American content is very limited. We could see the latest releases with our configuration but you can’t with this one stated on Bernews.
I wonder which country will be the first to block this……..
Really bad selection, at the moment. Yes, they have *some* big titles, but practically no new releases. Also, there is *way* too much Spanish content. Apparently, Netflix thinks we are part of Latin America. I’m quite disappointed, and expected better. This is a bit of waste, to be quite honest.
I’ll stick with iTunes or my VPN client.
Set your Netflix Preferences, the movie selection improves dramatically.
One month trial will probably be enough for me. Not much to watch. Thought there would be lots of content
You need the VPN client setup so that you can see the real content. What you see here isn’t the same as the US.
SO HOW DO WE GET THE VPN CLIENT CAUSE WHAT I SEE HERE IS DEFINITELY NOT WHAT MY FIANCE HAS IN THE US
I’ll stick with LooNeyTunes on my PLP client. It’s free…………………….
Shree Stooges Cog, Listless and Minus
R.I.P. Cable Vision and WOW
and goodbye to paper… once we get computers…
it definitely sucks they lumped us into Latin America…. just like everyone else.
Netflix has been available here via proxy for ages now.
and if you ask me… the better way to go… that way you dont get stuck with Spanish movies
I’m excited! Not impressed with service from Cablevision, I recently purchased an Apple TV. Once the kinks are worked out I’m sure the NetFlix will be great.
Most available in Spanish….completely sucks…absolutely nothing to get excited about…Reed Hastings I for one do not share your excitement…
With Netflix there is room for improvement..I’m sure once they find out that we are not a Latin American country things can be switched up…My friend has Netflix in the USA and not once have I heard her complain about the movies being available in only Spanish..so this is a kink that can be worked out….As usual you can’t please everyone and what might work for one might not work for another that’s why there are OPTIONS if you don’t like netflix get something else or stick with “stalevision” whoops I meant cablevision….
We can get the US content here in Bermuda. You all just need to know how to get it.
I have been using Netflix for several months with a VPN and my WII, it is great, I have a US IP address so I get the US version. Haven’t watched cable in months, no spanish Netflix . Once they fix the set up you will like it. The movies take a bit longer than apple tv, but you don’t have to spend all that Monet on I tunes cards. There are also a bunch of kids shows.
Ditto!! We have had Netflix for a month now (the US version) and rarely watch anything else, we have also cancelled our WOW movie channels.
HOW DO YOU GET A usa ISP ADDRESS?
google vpn offers. strongvpn is one, hidemya$$ is another. There are many out there from about $7 per month.
I don’t know about good-bye Cablevision. More like goodbye Leisure-time, inna?
I’m sure Leisure Time, Phase One and Double W have been preparing for this. I believe there will be a market for optical disc rentals for some time. Sure, with my standard 4Mb connection I download and watch standard and Blue Ray rips (movie only) all the time. Although most homes have computers and broadband, not everyone is savvy enough to have a VPN client or hit the torrents, download, have ample storage, check to make sure it is what it is and plays from beginning to end and tranfer to a HTPC and curl up confidently. Once in a while I’d rent and rip. Not so much lately.
Leisure Time and the other video stores would have to offer a similar monthly subscription competitively priced to keep up. Can’t tell you the last time I’ve rented from any of the video stores, to be honest.
Games+Flix offers (formally Double W) has unlimited monthly plans from $25 with no due dates and no late fees. We carry all the latest movies, eg. we have had Thor for the past 2 weeks which will not be available for streaming on Netflix USA for another 2-3 months. Apple TV offers Thor for rent at $6 and you have 36 hours to watch it once you begin to watch it. Cheaper then cable & Apple TV, more variety then Netflix
Look out M&M’s, P-Tech and Electronic City, erbody’s coming for a 50 inch computer screen… Hmmm!! I wonder if I can get me a laptop that size…LMAO!!!
If your password is more than 10 characters long.. forget it.
Like I posted above, set your Netflix Preferences, there are several pages of them including languages, and the Spanish should disappear.
You keep saying that but my language was set to English from the start and I can not see anything different.
Be aware ppl….read up on netflix and don’t be too quick to cancel cable fishin’…..netflix will soon increase costs by 100% soon enough!! They have many Americans cancelling subscriptions, hence why they moved to other countries ! Be forewarned!
Um, the price increased ONLY for people who wanted the streaming subscription as well as the DVD rentals.
I am sure netflix won’t be raising their prices nowhere as high as $80.00-$180.00 a month as what most of you all are paying for your cable….
Even if they increase their fee by 100% it’s still cheaper than cable vision. My bill is at least $100 per month ($1200 per year). I’m sure netflix wont even come close to that. They would have to increase their fee 2000% to get to that amount.
And what is your source for this information??
The intended increase was eported on CNN…. watch the news you tard.
Been using Netflix for about 6 months now and dumped CV long time ago and WOW when started using this. Haven’t looked back since. What’s of concern is Bermuda’s internet, whereas you don’t get what you pay for, you pay through the nose at what little is offered and some of the ISP’s charge you more if you download over a certain amount a month. Bermuda’s internet offerings are in the stone ages compared to most other places and something like Netflix is going to make this very apparent.
So much free on the internet – why pay those guys. Get the most basic cable plus a good connection. Go to Project TV – nuff said.
No more need for CableVision, and honestly, who needs a television set at all these days? I watch tv for free online, and download a movie on itunes once in a while.
SSSSSHHHHH!!!! Don’t tell Bermuda Broadacasting!! They’ll block EVERYTHING!!!
@ Kells: Sadly, you are too right. I guess everybody is trying to preserve their jobs, but the prices we pay in comparison to the States really seems like we are being gouged. I recently gave up all TV – poor WOW reception and being charged for wireless Internet by Cablevision when they are not an ISP – meaning I still have to pay either Northrock or Logic. NOT!
Loved Netflix while I was living Stateside. Glad to know it is now available here.
To Be honest I won’t be paying for Netflix either. There are so many alternative to watching free TV and movies. But I only reveal my sources to family members…sorry.
I tried to sign up but when I typed in our Zip code, it will not accept
I signed up for Netflicks about 3 months ago. The main problem is that they only have VERY old movies on it. I still go to Leisure Time to watch up to date movies. Netflicks is great for children as they don’t care which cartoon they watch.
You guys make me laugh. Nothing is free. There is no cheap this or that. What your avoiding is owned by the ones your avoiding….a…….bawhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
You don’t get it do you.
Go see Joe Moniz et Dial up.com……………………………………….
I, too, would advise that all internet users in Bermuda be “on your guard”. I’ve been in the IT industry for a while – do not think twice that your local IP addresses (the one that connects you to your provider) are not being monitored for the amount of traffic that comes from your address. It is happening.
This monitoring will lead to site blockage – no need to increase their price; but, they will limit where you can and cannot go…
Just my two cents…
Postman out.
Netflix is great via VPN, had it for a year, great for tv series especially uk stuff. Don’t really watch cable any more, if it wasn’t for the kids it would be long gone. Netflix is now 30% of AlL Internet traffic in USA.
What till you get the downloading bill from your ISP and you won’t think Netflix is so cheap. If you read your ISP rules and regulations you’re allowed so many gigs per month, go past and each gig is really gonna add up.
Do NOT tell me I’m the only Bermudian who finds this story Old News! I’ve been accessing Netflix for years from right here on the Island.
I really had a chuckle that supposedly we can’t get to the full US content!!
As has been mentioned already in these posts, use a VPN service – I haven’t looked at the other links but I have been using this site: http://is.gd/FULL_Netflix
http://is.gd/FULL_Netflix for a long time now, and as they say you “Virtually Reside In Another Country”!
C’mon Bermuda why are we always stuck in the past?! Catch up with technology that will make you cancel your (fuzzy) cable TV!!
Northrock has this in the fine print, Logic does not and I have never been charged extras by Logic and I download over 500 gig a month.
@ John Does – Northrock has been limiting/preventing more than this over the past few years. That’s a fact.
I just got a look at the Netflix, though, picture was granular, but, my wife is happy so…what the hey – I told her she needs to get her own PS3 now!!! LOL
credit card right off the bat for a month free……little weird
so many comments, most are just BULLS$$T as netflix(did there math) and have clearly been writting on here to big themselves up…..note all the clever comebacks from people we have never heard of.
