Upcoming: Make Hunger History Week
The Eliza DoLittle Society’s Daily Bread Programme will be holding their first annual ‘Make Hunger History’ week, beginning on Sunday, September 25th – Saturday, October 1st.
Businesses, schools and interested groups are invited to participate by placing food collection boxes in locations where employees, students, visitors and/or the general public can place donated non-perishable food items during this special week.
Canned and non-perishable foods can also be taken to official drop-off locations found throughout the Island.
All donated food will be distributed to charities that provide meals and/or food supplies year-round to Bermuda’s hungry and needy. These charities include The Coalition for the Protection of Children, The Salvation Army, Centre Against Abuse, Hands of Love, Meals on Wheels and Daily Bread.
Daily Bread Executive Director, Margaret Ward, encourages businesses interested in participating to call 333-4483. Boxes and donated food are then to be collected by Daily Bread drivers on October 3rd – 5th.
The Daily Bread programme is dedicated to eliminating hunger and reducing food wastage in Bermuda by delivering fresh surplus food to those in need. The Eliza DoLittle Society is a registered Bermuda charity whose aim is to feed and otherwise care for needy people.
