AFL_LogoAFL Investments is hosting a series of financial seminars next month to help individuals and couples address the challenges presented by the ongoing economic uncertainties. All of the seminars will be free for the public to attend

Entitled “The Economy and You: A Financial Faceoff,” the series will consist of three lunchtime sessions each tailored to a specific audience: women, men and couples.

The first session on October 11 is designed for women who, in these economic times, need to take a holistic approach to their financial wellbeing. The “Women and Wealth” seminar will address the implications of current market conditions for a woman’s wallet, how to build a net worth, investment strategy makeovers and shopping for investments to suit individual needs.

The guest speaker, joining AFL’s Carla Seely, will be Sheila Nicoll, FCII. Sheila, who is well-known as a successful Bermudian businesswoman is happy to share her pragmatic approach to successfully managing finances in all economic environments.

The second seminar, “Men and Money,” will take place on October 12 and is tailored for men who want to gain an insight into effective ways to evaluate and protect their portfolios in the current economic climate. This session will start by exploring the wider economic context and then drill down into topics such as how to beat the cash flow crunch, bench pressing the benchmark and creating the MVP, Most Valuable Portfolio.

Joining AFL’s Kevin Grant is guest speaker Matt Maldoff, BA (Hons), CFA. Mr. Maldoff specializes in qualitative and quantitative analysis of fund managers. Matt has spoken frequently in Bermuda and his engaging style makes complex concepts easily understood.

The final event on October 13 is for couples who want to protect their family’s financial future. Against the backdrop of a continued recession, “Couples and Capital” will look at the impact of the prevailing financial climate for partners.

Attendees will learn about how to successfully consolidate their finances with their partner as well as recommended capital preservation strategies. Rajah Abusrewil, BA (Hons), PgDL, LPC, TEP will join Carla Seely as the guest speaker for this session.

Miss Abusrewil specializes in offering advice on the most appropriate ways to structure and protect estates. Her approachable style has endeared her as a guest speaker both locally and abroad.

Cindy Campbell, Chief Operating Officer of AFL Investments, says: “There is no doubt that the current economic climate brings complexities in terms of both managing your personal finances and investing.”

“We have designed this seminar series to equip individuals, whatever their circumstances, with the necessary knowledge and strategies to face up to the economy and tackle the challenges it presents head on. We want to help people who might be feeling overwhelmed to grow in confidence and actively improve their financial situation.”

Each seminar will take place between 12 noon and 1pm on the designated date and a light lunch will be provided. The series will be held in The Argus Training Centre in the new Argus Building at 14 Wesley Street in Hamilton. As space is strictly limited, interested individuals should register by emailing rsvp@aflinvestments.bm or calling 294-5715 by October 7.
