The first recipient of the grant was BHS graduate Jessica Dill, who used her grant to help fund her Bachelors in Architecture from Edinburgh College of Art. She is currently working in the Architectural Department of Government and has just been seconded to Cooper and Gardner on the 12th of September.

Mount Saint Agnes graduate Chiara Lombardi put her grant to good use studying 3D Design (Interior Design) at Dundee College. She has since gone on to study towards her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture at the Leicester School of Architecture in the UK.

Last year’s recipient was Saltus graduate Jonathan Starling, who is undertaking a Masters Degree in urban and regional planning at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh.

In regard to the awarding of this year’s grant, Scott Devine, President of the Caledonian Society in Bermuda said: “I’m delighted that the Caledonian Society of Bermuda has again this year been able to offer our support to a Bermudian student going on to continue their education in Scotland.”

“We had numerous deserving applicants this year and after much deliberation Lianna was chosen to be this year’s recipient, we’re encouraged how well that previous recipients are progressing in their educational careers and we wish Lianna all the best as she starts her studies at Glasgow University in September.”

The next Caledonian event will be a screening of the classic film Whisky Galore at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) on Sunday, October 16th.

In addition to the film itself, Gosling’s offering a sampling of whiskies prior to the screening and Harbourfront will be offering a special $46 menu for moviegoers who want to dine there afterwards. Tickets for this event are $20 and are on sale now at www.premiertickets.bm.
