Photos: Breast Cancer Fun Walk

October 16, 2011

The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre held its 15th Annual Breast Cancer Fun Walk on Wednesday [Oct.12]. A large crowd gathered at Barr’s Bay Park on Pitt’s Bay Road for the 6:00pm start.

The walk is intended to help increase awareness of breast cancer prevention and the importance of early detection and is also a major fundraiser for the centre. Funds raised from this year’s walk will go towards upgrading the centre’s diagnostic equipment and patient support services which will increase early cancer detection and thereby decrease the time between screening and diagnosis.

The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is a registered charity; supporting the community in the prevention, detection and support of cancer and other health concerns. The organization was originally formed in 1945 to assist patients with tuberculosis. Today the organization continues to expand its role regarding early detection, education and support of major health concerns such as cancer and other health issues that affect the community. The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is located at 46 Point Finger Road, Paget.
