41-Yr-Old Man In ICU After Accident

[Updated] Around 7:15am this morning [Nov.24] there was an accident on Middle Road in Southampton in the vicinity of Five Star Island involving a motorcycle and a bus. The motorcycle rider sustained a head injury and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.

The motorcycle rider involved in this serious collision, a 41 year old Hamilton parish man, is currently in the Intensive Care Unit. Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact PC Collin DaSilva at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.

Update 3.03pm: The motorcycle rider sustained head injuries and is listed in critical condition in the ICU. A police spokesperson said, “At 7:20am on Thursday November 24, Police and first responders attended a report of a serious collision on Middle Road, Southampton in the vicinity of Five Star Island involving a motorcycle and a bus. It appears that both vehicles were travelling along Middle Road when they collided.

“The rider of the motorcycle, a 41 year old Hamilton parish man, sustained head injuries and was transported to KEMH via ambulance. At last check, he was listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit. No one else was reported injured. Traffic was diverted away from the scene for approximately two hours. Inquiries into this incident are ongoing.

“The Bermuda Police Service is appealing for any witnesses, in particular the rider of a second motorcycle which was believed to be in the area around the time of the collision, to contact PC Bianca Glasford at the Roads Policing Unit on 295-0011.”

    I was afraid it was something serious in that area. I hope he makes a speedy recovery. I also hope is bike is ok too or at least not damaged beyond repair

      Did you read the article? It was on Harbour Road. The bike hit a bus. Why would you need a boat?

    Let me clear something up. The medics that attend these accidents are NOT first responders. They are “EMTS”. There is a big difference between a first responder and an EMT. A first responder can give basic first aid, an EMT is trained to give pre-hospiital care, assess the extent of the injuries and administer certain medications if needed.
    There was an off-duty EMT on scene attending to the injured person for at least
    10 minutes before Port Royal Fire service and the ambulance arrived.
    No body was attending to the injured person prior to this EMTs arrival. He announced who he was and took control of the scene.
    My hat goes off to this EMT and his dedication to his responsibility as an EMT.
