Police Issue Warning After Burglary Spree

November 8, 2011

The Bermuda Police Service is advising the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries.

Over the weekend there were a number of burglaries reported, most occurring in the St. George’s and Warwick areas. Overall, a quantity of jewellery and cash was taken.

“The public is reminded to make sure all windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended,” said a Police spokesman.

“We also continue to recommend that all residents secure their valuables out of sight, record serial numbers of all items and take pictures of their possessions. In particular, make note of electronic equipment and jewellery — so that if they are stolen and later recovered, there is an accurate way of identifying them.”

Members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods to the Police by contacting 295-0011. The public is reminded that receiving stolen property is a criminal offence.
