Social Inquiry Report For Trespasser

November 15, 2011

19-year-old Akiri Trott will spend between now and 15th December in custody while he awaits a Social Inquiry Report. This decision by Senior Magistrate Archie Warner was the outcome of a charge of trespass that occurred on 16th October 2011 and to which Trott had pleaded guilty.

Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney gave evidence that Trott had been knocking on a girl’s window at 5:30am on 16th October. This first attempt at contact resulted in the girl’s parents being woken and their finding Trott and telling him to go away.

During this period, Trott gained entrance to the house and walked into the dining room. The girl’s father insisted on Trott leaving the house but Trott stayed in the yard.

Asked by the Magistrate if he had a relationship with the girl, Trott said that he knew her but did not have a relationship with her. Trott told the Court: “We are friends but we ain’t in a relationship. She told me not to come that day. I had contacted her that afternoon and she told me not to come that day.”

Trott, unrepresented but assisted by Duty Counsel Leopold Mills, told the Magistrate that his behaviour that night resulted from his being drunk.

The Magistrate ordered an adjournment until 15th December, requested a Social Inquiry Report, and remanded Trott into custody – at the COED facility – until 15th December 2011.
