$26M ‘Bermuda-Style’ Home For Sale In US

December 30, 2011

A mansion described as a “Bermuda-style home” and “inspired by tranquil oceanfront living in Bermuda” is for sale in Palm Beach, Florida for $26 million.

The real estate listing says the 11,000 sq ft property contains an underground passageway to the nearby beach, spectacular water views, an elevator and more.

Owner Paul Wittmann said when he and his partner purchased the property, they wanted to create a “fresh, clean and crisp look.”

While researching, he came across a photograph of Bermuda’s Rosedon hotel, which he said was “striking.” Mr Wittmann said, “I gave the photo to Michael Perry of MP Design & Architecture and said, ‘Give me this to build.’”

With seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, the property features a tunnel to the ocean beneath South Ocean Boulevard, as well as an inner courtyard and swimming pool.

The property also features a paneled bar, seven bedroom suites with marble bathrooms, formal dining room, breakfast room, office, kitchen, Butler’s pantry, sitting room, laundry area, staff quarters, garage, poolside cabana, library, walk-in wine room, custom built elevator and more.

  1. Triangle Drifter says:

Must give credit where due but where is the roof?

  2. Yup says:

I would say the garden full of Bay Grapes, Palm Trees and crab grass make the house more Bermudian than anything else. Like TD says, without that roof this house, when you take away the garden and shutters is only “barely Bermudian”. Hey, and for $26MM why wouldn’t a person just want to buy the real mccoy and get a real house in Bermuda!

If it was ‘built’ the Bermudian way too , they probably ran out of money when they got to the roof part . lol
