Video: Actress’ Valentine’s Day Film

February 14, 2012

In celebration of  Valentine’s Day [Feb. 14.], Bermuda’s Broadway sensation Rebecca Faulkenberry has written and directed a short film featuring two of her “Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark” co-stars playing young New Yorkers who have a fateful encounter on the subway.

Ms Faulkenberry, who plays the title character’s love interest Mary Jane Watson in “Spider-Man”, recruited fellow cast members Chris Tierney and Natalie Lomonte for the film.

Now posted on YouTube, Ms Faulkenberry calls “The Small Hours” — which she made with her friend Sam Gooley — a “simple love story with sort of a lovey-dovey Valentine’s theme.”

The film tells the story of two subway passengers who meet by chance during the early hours of the morning. It’s set to the classic tune “In the Wee Small Hours” sung by Frank Sinatra.

Ms Faulkenberry joined the cast of “Spider-Man” — based on the Marvel Comics character co-created by writer/editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko — last November.

Running at New York’s Foxwoods Theatre, the record-breaking musical follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down — literally — when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to his bedroom ceiling.

The bullied science-geek — suddenly endowed with astonishing powers — soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility as villains test not only his physical strength but also his strength of character.
