The first male gymnasts to ever represent Bermuda returned March 4th, after competing in the Ocean State Classic in Rhode Island.

Coach Duke Nelligan said, “The team was led by: Taj Lowery who finished 1st on pommel horse, and vaulting and 3rd in the all-around competition, Max Blakeney finished 2nd on pommel horse, vaulting, high bar and 4th in the all-around, Nyan Outerbridge finished 4th on parallel bars and 11th all-around!

“These boys trained extremely hard in preparation for their first ever competition and faced competitors who routinely compete and train many more hours than our youngsters. I was very proud to be their coach and enjoy their success as were several parent and grand parents.

Congrats to these boys. My son is in the preschool recreational gymnastics program at Whitney. In the last year, one young man has been assisting with this program, which has been wonderful to see. He’s a positive role model for the many boys in the program.
