Slideshow: New Crane For Stevedoring Services

Stevedoring Services Ltd. took delivery of their new state of the art crane this morning [Apr.15]. The crane was manufactured by Gottwald GMBH in Dusseldorf Germany and shipped fully assembled on the heavy lift ship MV Panagia from Rotterdam.

The fully assembled 247 ton crane was lifted off of the MV Panagia in an operation that took several hours using 2 ship mounted cranes. It is expected that the new crane will be fully commissioned in the next few days by the factory representative and operational within a week or two.

Also on board the MV Panagia is the largest Mobile Harbour Crane ever build by Gottwald on its way to Mexico along with other project cargo for various destinations.

This state of the art crane represents our commitment to the importing community and Bermuda as a whole; the port is Bermuda’s life line to the outside world and as such the operation relies on reliable equipment and dedicated staff.

This crane is an investment in the future of Bermuda and demonstrates our confidence that the economy will improve and through this and other changes in the port, we will be ready to meet the demands of future.”
