BELCO and the Bermuda Cricket Board [BCB] presented cheques to the participants of the tenth annual BELCO Cup which was held last weekend.

BELCO President, Andrew Parsons congratulated Baileys Bay Cricket Club for their inaugural win over BELCO Cup hosts St. Davids. Veteran cricketer Clay Smith was named Man of the Match for his innings of 54 in a losing cause.

Prize cheques were presented to the following: Winners Baileys Bay Cricket Club — $1,500, finalists St. Davids Cricket Club — $1,000, semi-finalists Willow Cuts Cricket Club and Devonshire Recreation Club — $500 each, and Man of the Match Clay Smith — $300

The Bermuda Cricket Board Pee Wee Program was chosen as the charity recipient to benefit from the gate proceeds of the final this year. The Pee Wee Program is the foundation of the BCB Youth Development Program, which introduces the game of cricket in a fun, structured and safe environment.

The aim of the youth program is to provide a clear pathway for players to progress from the age of five through to the senior level diverting Bermudas at-risk youth from crime and anti-social behaviour through the sport of cricket. The Umpires also generously donated their fees from both days. As a result, BELCO presented a cheque for $3,120 to Bermuda Cricket Board for their Pee Wee Program.
