Meet 2012 Miss Southampton: Crystal Lyn

In the fifth of a series of profiles of contestants, Bernews today spotlights Crystal Lyn who is representing Southampton Parish in the Miss Bermuda Pageant, which will be held in two weeks.

The CedarBridge Academy graduate is currently finishing up a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at American InterContinental University, and also works at Attride-Stirling & Woloniecki Law as a Executive Assistant.

Asked why she entered Miss Bermuda, she said, “I am compassionate about helping others. I joined Miss Bermuda in hopes of being apart of an organization that helps our community. My motto is ‘inspire someone’ – I want to empower people to believe in themselves and exceed greatness. Miss Bermuda is positive, intelligent, and beauty with a purpose but most importantly with a heart.”

Asked what she has enjoyed about the experience so far she said, “Thus far, I’ve enjoyed learning the dance for the final night. Our practice sessions allow for us women to loosen up, laugh, and just be ourselves; which I find to be quite humorous.”

Are whether she is nervous or excited about getting onstage for the pageant, Miss Lyn said: “I’m mostly nervous right now. The time is ticking quickly and I don’t have my dress yet [whatever will I wear?].

“I guess this is all apart of the fun. Nonetheless, I know I will be excited and even more anxious when the night finally arrives to be on stage and have a crowd full of eyes all watching.”

The 2012 Miss Bermuda Pageant is scheduled to take place Sunday July 8th, at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel where reigning queen Jana Outerbridge will crown her successor.
