Structural Fire On Rambling Lane

[Updated] responded to a structural fire in the Rambling Lane, Pembroke area at approximately 11pm last night [July 4]. Lieutenant Colin Swan said that a single story structure was on fire, and that two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly brought the fire under control. No one was home during the incident, and there were no injuries.

Update: An official statement said, “Last evening at 2255 hours, Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service received a 911 call reporting a fire at an abandoned single storey dwelling on Rambling Lane, Pembroke.

“BFRS responded with 2 fire trucks, 2 support units and 8 personnel who were on scene in less than 4 minutes. First arriving truck was confronted with heavy smoke issuing from all windows. It was discovered that the fire was located at the entrance of the premise therefore 2 firefighters in breathing apparatus had to make entry from the rear of the building.

“Once inside firefighters found a mattress and couch well alight. The firefighters did an excellent job of bringing the fire quickly under control that prevented any major structural damage. There were no injuries reported, however the matter is currently under investigation.”
