Teenager Charged: Good Friday Attack

July 4, 2012

In Magistrates Court this morning [July 4], 17-year-old Gavaska Lodge-Bascome faced the indictable charges of unlawfully wounding and causing grieving bodily harm and unlawfully possessing a bladed article.

The allegations stem from an alleged group attack incident at Southampton Rangers Sports Club on Good Friday.

Crown Prosecutor Carrington Mahoney said that the information that precipitated Lodge-Bascome’s arrest came from digital images recorded on an electronic device.

Because the charges are indictable, and can only be tried in the Supreme Court, Lodge-Bascome was not required to plead. Senior Magistrate Archie Warner remanded Lodge-Bascome into custody overnight and will allow the bail hearing to continue in Plea Court on Thursday 5th July.

Lodge Bascome is the third person to appear in Court in relation to this incident, with Sergio Woolridge-Robinson and D’Angelo Clarke presently out on bail after being charged last week.
