Williams & Dill Sentencing Postponed Again

July 19, 2012

The sentencing of two men for their involvement in a shooting last year near Gravity nightclub last year has been postponed till tomorrow.

Pelealkhai Williams, 23, and Jonathan Dill, 28, previously admitted their involvement in the shooting of Rodney Grimes in October 2011.

They first appeared yesterday [July 17] for sentencing, but their sentencing was put off until today. Both men appeared in Court today and their defense lawyers made submissions on their behalf. They will re-appear tomorrow, when it expected the Judge will hand down the ruling.

The Court previously heard the defendants both have ties to the 42 gang, and and that Williams was acting on orders from other gang members to shoot the victim.

The incident occurred in the old Clay House Inn parking lot near Gravity Nightclub, on North Shore Road, Devonshire at around 3.20am on October 8, 2011. Mr Grimes, 25, was shot at close range and escaped serious injury with the bullet grazing his head and striking him in his ear.

Williams is the self-confessed shooter, while Dill rode the get-away bike with Williams as passenger.
