An area resident told Bernews he heard gunshots in the early hours of this morning and then saw Police arrive, and later an ambulance. He thinks this occurred sometime around 3am.

Unofficial reports indicate that someone [male about 24/25 yrs old] may have been shot in this incident, however we are awaiting official clarification on that.

Update #1: Sources continue to indicate a person was injured in the North Shore incident and is presently being treated at the hospital, however we do not have official confirmation of that as of yet.

Update #2: As of 1pm, the Police have still declined to give Bernews a statement on this incident so we have checked the name of the person said to have been shot, and a person of that name is presently listed in stable condition in the hospital after being admitted this morning. We hope to receive official clarification on this matter later today.

Update #3: A Police spokesman confirmed this shooting and the second shooting, the applicable police statement follows below:

Around 3:20am on Saturday, October 8th police and first responders attended a confirmed firearm incident in the North Shore Road, Devonshire area.

A Devonshire man in his 20s sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

As a result, officers cordoned off the scene and conducted a thorough search of the area which resulted in items of interest being recovered which will be forensically examined.

A full investigation into both incidents is underway. Any witnesses or anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 295-0011 or the independent, confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.

Update #4: Unofficial but reliable reports say the shooting victim had a very close call, with the bullet grazing his head and striking his ear.

  1. Survey says:

That looks like the Clayhouse. I thought that was a ‘good’ section of North Shore.

    • Black Soil says:

The Clayhouse needs to be knocked down. It is a public hazzard. Who’s the lazy idiot who owns that place? If PLP weren’t so much like UBP they would sell the place to some deserving brothers and sistaas.

      • Nominator says:

Such ignorance. That place is not owned by any lazy idiot..It is owned by the family of the late Dame Lois Browne and recently was granted permission for redevelopment by a consortium that includes Wendell Brown and Michael Emery, I believe. Even before re-development, that property has to be worth over $2M. Do you even know how many zeros are in that number?

There are a lot of homes that are unfortunately going into a state of neglect thanks to the environment. If yours is not one of them, though I doubt you actually own anything…then consider yourself fortunate.

Your comment was very ignorant. You need to read. The PLP can’t sell someting they do not own.

        • Black Soil says:

I see. PLP elite own it. Explains everything!! And I’m to keep quiet? Keep up the shooting PLP=Gangstaa friendly. That $2M will soon be $1M…and there’s just the same number as zero’s a##hole!!! Oh…I do own my own modest house…which would probably look like Clayhouse if I didn’t touch it for 20 years a$$hole!!!

      • Joan Cabral says:

Clay house is owned by the children of Lois Browne Evans. They recently had an application to put in some rental units and a pharmacy. Everyone in the area objected.Planning turned down their original application. Haven’t heard anything since

  2. Terry says:

Thats an iconic photo as the Police Officers look at the approaching dark clouds.

Been a few incidents in that area over the years. The ole Clayhouse. Had many good times there. A safe day to all.

  3. Your Comment Is Awaiting Moderation says:

Saw so many great shows at Clayhouse. Those were the good ole days.

  4. Pitbull says:

OMG!!! NOT THIS CRAP AGAIN :(

  5. dee dee says:

Does anyone know why north shore was closed last night from the aquarium round-a-bout? Traffic was being diverted around the sound.

    • mamasboyz says:

Yes, there was a really bad accident involving 2 bikes and maybe a car!! Haven’t heard much about it. Bernews can you confirm this?o

      • bernews says:

It was an incident there last night yes, we have the unofficial details, but are still waiting on the Police for official word to post it….

        • X factor says:

Bermuda its seriously time for you all to stop eating at each other (being critical of one another) all the time and put your heads together to solve your social issues. We’re running out of room. First it was their own backyards, now they shooting in frequented public places. My prayer, that they don’t hit an innocent bystander…

  6. Foxtrot Oscar says:

Looks like they’ve finally got their new shipment of bullets in after the others were seized earlier in the year. Here we go again…

  7. bermyshotta says:

Babylon still ank release de statement yet?! Wa di coverup? Bang…jus gettin started!

  8. Bulla Bulla says:

Bernews, heard of another gun related incident last night! Any truth to this? Or is it more Bulla Bulla I am hearing? Excellent website by the way! Top marks!

  9. Truth (Original) says:

    It is likely that there is a corrupted network of people involving all or some of the following entities;

    Airport workers
    Customs officers
    Dock workers
    Police service

The police are doing a great job but there is a lack of integrity in the chain somewhere. I hope that there is work being done not only in the area of retrieving weapons and capturing criminals but also looking internally to see where the guns and ammunition are getting in. Bermuda is not that big of a place. I am confused as to how difficult it seems to be to root out the bad seeds in the agencies and the choke out this issue at the source.

  10. finalstraw! says:

Thanks Bernews for the update! Its a damn shame to have woken up to hear there was another shooting!

  11. In Mark's opinion says:

How can the public help if the Police are been tightlipped again . We want to help take a bullet out of crime in Bermuda too . I and other people where out at that time and may have passed the Bad Boys somewhere .

    • Terry says:

Mark, call the polie. Quite simple…jingus.

Or maybe you don’t want to “mark my words”.

  12. Terry says:

Yes Mate…..you can talk all you want.

    Do the math.

Paget round-a-bout shooting. Clayhouse Inn. North Shore incident.

TITFORTAT..or as you common folks would say..Tit-For-Tat.

Why do you a$$holes think the Police are keeping back information. They are related.

I’ll even give up my home next to EB in Marthas Vineyard just to prove it too you.

    Bermuda, speak.

  13. Joya says:

COWARDS, COWARDS, IT IS COWARDLY TO HIDE BEHIND A GUN. YOUNG PEOPLE DO NOT LET THEM RECRUIT YOU TO FIRE GUNS. IT IS NOT HEROIC. RELATIVES, FAMILIES, FRIENDS – WHO KNOW
OF GUNS AND SHOOTERS – BEING SILENT, OR HIDING YOUR HEADS IN THE SAND IS ALSO COWARDLY AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE ALSO AND IT COULD BE YOU OR YOURS NEXT!!!
THERE IS NO HONOR AMONG SHOOTERS, THIEVES, MURDERERS.

BERMUDA IS TOO TOO SMALL FOR NOBODY TO KNOW NOTHING – DAH!!!
