Chea Simmons Memorial Game Held Today
Footballers from across the island gathered at the Wellington Oval today [Aug 25] to take part in the Chea Simmons Memorial Benefit Six-A-Side Tournament. St. George’s Colts footballer Chea Simmons was airlifted out of Bermuda after being struck with a mystery illness.
Family spokeswoman Candy Foggo said, “It fills the family’s heart to know that Chea touched so many people throughout the island. Just to see so many people here makes us feel good because it shows that not just the family knew how special Chea was, but many in the country knew as well.”
President of the St. George’s Cricket Club Neil Paynter said, “Chea is going to be a big loss. Not just on the field but also off the field. Chea was a senior player in the team and demanded a lot from players. He also demanded the same when off the field and was never afraid to let people know if and when they were doing something they should not.”
Chea is a larger than life miss in the community. Condolences to his family, especially his eldest sister Charmaine. RIP Chea!
It was a wonderful day at the field, a nice family event.
