40-Yr-Old Woman Denies Selling Car Five Times

September 24, 2012

In Magistrates Court this morning [Sept 24] 40-year-old Wendy Catherine Francis of Devonshire denied five charges involving allegations of selling a car and pocketing the proceeds without actually giving over the car.

The allegations were that between October 2011 and September 2012 — each time purporting to be a person named Nicole Simons —  Ms Francis had sold the same car five times via an online classifieds website.

Ms Francis was alleged to have posed as Nicole Simons, sold the car for $1,000 and pocketed the money. She was also alleged to have performed the same deception on four other occasions pocketing $500, $2,005, $4,000 and $4,500.

The total alleged to have been obtained by deception was $12,005.

Ms Francis was given a trial date of 29th October 2012 and was remanded into custody until her trial. Hearing that she was to be remanded, Ms Francis asked Senior Magistrate Archie Warner: “Can I get one of those electronic monitoring devices?”

The Senior Magistrate did not accede to her request.

  3. Come Correct says:

I certainly hope these 5 people were smart enough to sign agreements before handing over any money if not it looks like 5 people allegedly made charitable donations to the Wendy Catherine Francis fight against the recession fund. Even if she was allegedly using a false name that’s even more charges to add. Solution for convicted scam artists, liquidate everything they own and divide it between the victims, then you would simply have to be brain dead to try it and eberybody wins.

  32. NOT A JOKE says:

The most common reason people embezzle or commit fraud is because they believe that they are entitled to it. One example is someone who embezzled from a casino. She was angry that the casino stopped paying for her parking and felt she was entitled to be reimbursed for her parking expenses. So at first she took just enough to cover them. But once she saw how easy it was, she just kept taking more and more…………SENTENCE HER TO JAIL and MAKE SURE she gets PSYCHIATRIC TREATMENT FOR LIFE!!!
