Joint Services Emergency Training Exercise
A Joint Services Emergency [Training] Exercise will be held in the northern area of St. George’s on October 19th and 20th.
A spokesperson said: “Joint Services Emergency [Training] Exercises are held annually in order to comprehensively test the emergency services’ response capabilities. The Exercise will involve elements from The Bermuda Police Service, Bermuda Regiment, Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, and KEMH.
“The public is further advised that some members of these emergency service will potentially be carrying and using authorised weapons and pyrotechnics [including firearms], but will not be using live ammunition.
“Areas where intensive training and testing will be conducted shall be cordoned off from the public and monitored by a member of the emergency service. Members of the public should not try to gain entry into designated training areas; they are also requested to not interfere or impede the training exercise.
Training Officer for the Bermuda Regiment Major Martin Wyer said: “The public may see members of the Bermuda Regiment and Emergency Services in the east end on October 19th and 20th but should not be alarmed as they are part of a training exercise.
“We understand that some areas are used by members of the public for recreation, and we thank those who are inconvenienced for their support by making alternate plans during the aforementioned periods.
“This annual Exercise is vital for Bermuda’s service personnel to prove they are ready to respond to situations that may require their expertise.”
If any items are discovered by a member of the public in the training area after the training has concluded, they are requested to contact the St George’s Police Station 297 –1122 or the Bermuda Regiment 238-1045.
