November Is Diabetes Month – “It’s Our Time”

The Bermuda Diabetes Association will mark Diabetes Month with a series of events being held throughout November. Free health screenings will be held on Wednesdays throughout the month including November 7th, 14th and 21st at Washington Mall from 11.30am – 2.00pm.

There will be a church service on Sunday November 11th at Heard Chapel, Glebe Road, Hamilton at 11.00am. Rev. Alex will be leading the service to remember and honor past and present diabetes sufferers, their families, friends and caregivers. Free screenings and foot checks will be available after the service.

The Esso “Step by Step” Walk for Diabetes is slated for Sunday November 18th. The walk starts at 3.00pm from Warwick Gas Station to Victoria Park. Registration is $20 which includes a goodie bag with tee shirt. Sign up is available at any Esso station.

On Thursday 8th and Thursday 22nd there will be two free lunchtime seminars for diabetes patients to learn more about glucose levels, from 12.15 – 1.30 at Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room, Albuoys Point.

Denim Day for Diabetes is being held on Friday November 30th and Diabetes Bermuda Tag Day will be on Friday November 30th with volunteers set to be in Hamilton. By purchasing a tag you are supporting the many services and health education events that benefit the diabetes community.

Events that will be ongoing all month long include Diabetic Dining at Lindos Devonshire where healthy meals with specially prepared choices offered at the take out deli counter will be available and Buzz Restaurants are supporting the Diabetes community by offering a specially priced healthy meal deal all month.
