Burning Mattress In Warwick Home Extinguished
At approximately 6.15pm tonight [Jan 11], the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a house fire in Warwick. On arrival, they found smoke coming from a residence where bedding had been burning.
We unofficially understand a man gained access to the property and extinguished the blaze before it spread. No one was home at the time of the fire and the man was treated for smoke inhalation and given oxygen at the scene.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus made their way into the residence, removed the smoldering bedding and proceeded to wet it down to completely extinguish any hot spots. A smoke extractor was used to clear the property of the heavy smoke. We will update with official information as it becomes available.
