On Friday, January 18, 2013, the official 2013 KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile will reach its 25th anniversary. The BNAA, in conjunction with KPMG in Bermuda, is committed to making this event a huge success.

The 2012 Front Street Miles:

The KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile attracts local athletes from age 8 to 65+ and elite, international runners from across the world. At such a prestigious event, local athletes will have the opportunity to build relationships and interact with international runners to gain as much running knowledge as possible.

As this event reaches a milestone, this initiative has proven to be a highlight in the community as huge crowds gather on Front Street to cheer on local and international athletes.

The race trials for the 2013 KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile were a success with over 250 runners competing. The top 25 runners in each category finishing in under 8 minutes were invited to compete in this year’s KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile.

Amongst the athletes who earned a spot were some of Bermuda’s top runners: Kyra Scraders, Juma Mouchette, Dage Minors and Shaquille Dill [all Carifta medalists and who competed in the 2012 KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile]. This year’s event will not only see runners participating for recognition, but groups will also travel to Bermuda to run for a cause.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Team in Training are competing to raise funds for research and treatment of blood cancers. Black Girls Run will also participate to raise awareness of health and to encourage women in the African American community to walk and run to improve their own health.

The KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile number pick up will be from 5:30pm – 8:00pm at the No. 6 Passenger Terminal, Front Street, Hamilton. Runners should collect their numbers at least half an hour before their race. The Bermuda Regiment Band will kick off the event at 6:30pm.

Participants are asked to arrive no later than 6:30pm in order to start their races with the Bermuda Triangle Challenge Mile at 7:00pm with the primary school girls following at 7:40pm. The 2013 KPMG Bermuda Invitational Mile will mark the first event of the Bermuda Triangle Challenge.
