Police: No Significant Incidents Over New Year’s

Nine people were arrested for outstanding warrants and suspicion of impaired driving over the New Year period, however there were no significant incidents of anti-social behavior, the police said.

“The Bermuda Police Service would like to thank the public for their co-operation over the New Year’s holiday period as there were no significant incidents of anti-social behavior reported,” a police spokesperson said.

“From 7am Monday, December 31st 2012 – 7am Wednesday, January 2nd 2013, police officers arrested 4 people for outstanding warrants. Officers also arrested five people on suspicion of impaired driving and conducted liquor license checks at various liquor licensed premises throughout the island.”

    Only 5 arrested for impaired driving? The other several hundreds of other drunk drivers war clearly not pulled over for a breath test, as usual in Bermuda. Never understood why there isn’t a crackdown on drinking and driving/
