Devon Hewey & Jay Dill Murder Trial Continues
The trial of Jay Dill and Devon Hewey continued in Supreme Court today [Feb 5], with both men facing charges of killing footballer Randy Robinson.
At around 8.30pm on March 31 2011, Mr Robinson was fatally shot in the Border Lane North, Pembroke area.
The Crown has alleged that he was shot by Jay Dill who was riding on the back of a bike being driven by Devon Hewey.
Mr Robinson’s girlfriend took the witness stand today, and said Mr Robinson used to enjoy going out and socializing, but stopped after he was jumped at a football game. She testified he had concerns about his personal safety.
The victim’s mother had testified to the same effect yesterday, also saying her son had safety concerns after he was jumped at a football game by alleged gang members.
Taking the stand in late afternoon was Dennis McGuire, an American ballistics expert from a private forensics investigative firm in Florida. As directed by Justice Greaves, lead Crown Prosecutor Garrett Byrne read in Mr McGuire’s background for the record.
This indicated Mr McGuire had over 20 years experience as a crime scene reconstructor with special experience in ballistics; and had given expert evidence in over 400 cases in the USA, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and Bermuda.
The two defendants leave Court today with the police escorting the prison van:
Responding to the Crown’s questions and looking at photographic evidence, Mr McGuire said that the bullets that killed Randy Robinson came from a .38 calibre revolver.
He said that the bullets matched those from one other case that he had investigated in Bermuda. He also said that the bullets were unusual in that they were a colour not commonly found and had a truncated nose.
Both men deny premeditated murder and using a firearm to commit the offence. The trial continues.

uh oh?
I would like to know how these parents feel whrn there children are caught up in this mess.Do the simply feel like they failed their children because I feel like the parent have failed them.Is it anything that the parents could have done differently because they are their children they didn’t get like this overnight.don’t bite my head off people.
CHOICES……..CHOICES,,,,,,,CHOICES……..
Obviously you can not see what is happening with these young men. They are being targeted unfairly and you people are eating up what the media and police officials feed you. Its time for you to start thinking outside of the box. They only pick out certain parts of the case to make them look guilty, but the truth shall prevail. These parents haven’t failed their children that comment is indecent and unjust to say the least, but like you said it is your opinion which truly does not matter.
What the general public fail to realize is that parents are not to blame for the actions of their children. After a certain age there are choices children make on their own, which in no way should reflect off of the the characteristics of the parents and how they have raised their children. Yes, I do agree that parental guidance is vital from the home but it is therefore up to the child to make choices for themselves as an individual at a certain age and use the guidance the parents has instilled from young. There are many parents or relatives that go out of there way to produce a proper up bringing for children but in return are kicked in the butt and disrespected due to the choices that child wants to make.
@ Get it together You kno …in some cases no you cannot blame the parents …but in most cases you can! first of all most of these offenders start from as young as 17 and if I am correct most 17 year olds are still living home with their parent or parents. As a matter of fact most of these boys live with their parents or family members and are over the ages of 21 ,so I will say as a Single mother of 4 ,that n e adult in this country who is raising or have raised young black males..whether it is your son …your nephew, your cousin ,your uncle or your brother that we cannot take chances and act like those in our households aren’t capable of committing such offences!! We have too let them kno who is in charge…come on as a whole,we need to come together and stop this, take control of our homes, our households our sons and our island, cause if we don’t we gonna see way more damage done too this country and if it can get worse then it already is there is no hope for this country our country and more of our sons are gonna get killed!!
Parents is not going be there 24\7 comes a point in life were a boy\man have to make the own Decisions.. Can’t always blame parents #justSaying
Innocent to proven guilty, Jay Dill hold your head up.You have a lot of supporters that’s behind you. All you 42 guys need to get the hell out of Bermuda. The system is against you young man. Pay attention you all see what’s going on, this sh!t is sad.PLEASE GOD EXPOSE THIS CASE INTERVENE AND SHOW NO MERCY ON THESE COWARDS.FIND THE RIGHT MURDERS FOR ALL THESE MURDER CASES.
Well unless you were there with them at the time of this murder there isn’t much that you can do …and yes I agree that GOD will come through and catch all those responsible for n e life that has been selfishly taken, I am not saying that they are quilty nor am I saying that they are innocent…but wat I will say is that all these young men have family and supporters …but the victims have only lost their lives…they don’t have family and they don’t have supporters right?! Takin the life of n e human being is not our right no matter what a person may have did in their past it is no one’s right too take a life!!! And if these boys are innocent then God will set them free…if found guilty then they should get the worst punishment ever!!! It makes me sick the way ppl act when a loved one is being takin to trial for killing another loved one!! Takin someone’s life means “SIN” so whether they get away with it or not there is still a “Judgement Day” my heart goes out too all the mothers and fathers as well as the family and friends of n e of victims …too the senseless shootings..May God be with US!!!
