Flight Cancellations Continue Due To Blizzard
The flight cancellations that began on Friday due to a powerful blizzard affecting the U.S. east coast continue today [Feb 9], with at least four Bermuda flights cancelled.
Arriving flights Delta #561 from Boston and United #1419 from Newark are showing as cancelled on flight data, as are departing flights American Airlines #1443 to New York/JFK and Delta #560 to Boston. Constantly updated data as it pertains to Bermuda flights can be found here on Bernews.com/flights.
CNN reports the blizzard dumped as much as 3 feet of snow in some parts of the Northeast, left at least one man dead and knocked out power for nearly 650,000 customers in the Northeast.
The snowstorm, a product of two converging weather systems, is expected to continue swirling across New England into Saturday with gusts up to 40 mph in cities including Providence, Rhode Island, and Boston.
Overnight lows in most of the Northeast were under 20 degrees and likely won’t get above freezing Saturday, CNN said. Governors of at least six states have declared states of emergency.
