Carifta Games: Kyrah Scraders Wins Silver Medal
Bermuda’s young track and field athletes continue to perform well in the Bahamas, with Faheemah “Kyrah” Scraders claiming Bermuda’s second Carifta medal yesterday [Mar 30].
The 16-year-old crossed the line in 4:39.43 to win a silver medal in the Under 17 1500m. She is no stranger to Carifta medal wins, having won a silver medal in the 2012 Carifta Games and a bronze in the 2011 Carifta Games.
Kyrah on the podium in the Bahamas:
Cassey George from Guyana won the gold medal in a time of 4:36.67, while Britnie Dixon of Jamaica claiming the bronze in 4:47.45. The 1500m saw two Bermudians in action, with 15-year-old Quaashie Douglas also in the field, placing 5th in a time of 5:42.44.

Congratulations, Kyrah! Well done.
Awesome, awesome, awesome. Keep it up Bermuda.
Fabulous – such hard work – and it pays off – well done!!!
WELL DONE sweetheart!!! Congratulations!!!!!
Well done Miss Scraders !! A good example why we should be spending more money on indiviual sports and not so much on cricket/football – just sayin
Keep it positive please on this great achievement. PS..all the money spent on football and cricket is well worth it.
Uhhh. No. I seriously disagree. We have had (for decades) youth that could easily excel on the international stage in a variety of sports but had no means because they are not popular in BDA culture. Our champion boxer had to get there basically by her own means for example.
Congratulations to you Kyrah. Keep doing your thing.
hello kyrah
congratulations and win more for your country
