Simmons Hat-Trick Leads Ilkeston To Victory

April 23, 2013

Bermudian striker Lejaun Simmons was a hat-trick hero yesterday [Apr 22] as Ilkeston FC claimed a place in the Central Conference Cup Final with a 4-0 win over Burton Albion in the UK.

The 20-year-old broke the deadlock five minutes before the break when he slipped the ball past the goalkeeper after going clear and followed that up by beating the ‘keeper with an angled drive before rounding off the victory with a neat header. Ilkeston’s remaining goal was scored by Dereece Gardner to give them a 4-0 win.

Simmons, who played locally for the Devonshire Cougars striker, recently joined Ilkeston as part of a partnership between the club and Bermuda Hogges Football team. He follows after Bermuda international Antwan Russell who scored his first goal for Ilkeston earlier this month.
